Sports Industry Veteran Andy Dolich to Open “Powering Silicon Valley”

SJSU’s STEAM Sports Summit Set for Nov. 3

SAN JOSE, CA (October 23) - Andy Dolich brings his well-respected multi- sports perspective with five decades of front office experience to San Jose State’s “Powering Silicon Valley” STEAM Sports Summit Nov. 3. 

Dolich, who has held positions in the NBA, MLB, NFL, NHL, pro soccer and lacrosse will deliver the summit’s opening address.  The summit will showcase career opportunities in sports and entertainment to students with STEAM-centric backgrounds. Thought leaders from leading Silicon Valley corporations and professional sports team will speak and sit on panels to discuss how science, technology, engineering, arts and math is impacting sports and entertainment.

“I have been lucky enough to work with many innovators during my career who managed through the windshield, not the rear view mirror,” says Dolich. “The best is yet to come for fans who will benefit from the power of sports and technology.”

His journey in the business of sports includes executive positions with the San Francisco 49ers, Memphis Grizzlies, Golden State Warriors, Oakland Athletics, Washington Capitals, Philadelphia 76ers and the Washington Diplomats. 

“Andy will be a solid leadoff hitter for our Powering Silicon Valley STEAM  sports summit,” says Blake Sasaki, SJSU’s Sr. Associate Athletics Director, External Relations. “He certainly has a pulse on how Silicon Valley companies, Bay Area teams, corporate partners, media outlets and fans are pushing the technology envelope within the sports and entertainment industries.”

He runs his own sports business consultancy working with Project Fanchise (eFL); 3Ball, a 3x3 Basketball League which will debut in the summer of 2018; The Basketball Tournament on ESPN (TBT) and is Co-owner of Virtual Reality firm Vhere. He teaches sports business at Stanford’s School of Continuing Studies and is Entrepreneur in Residence at Menlo College.
