The Honda STEAM Connections Tour in concert with Purdue University returned to the hallowed grounds of Indianapolis Motor Speedway in May for two days that featured the science, technology, engineering, arts and math behind motorsports.  Last year’s 500 winner, Alexander Rossi of Andretti Autosport, and Graham Rahal of Rahal Letterman Lanigan, spoke to 1300 middle and high school students from the great Indianapolis area.  In addition, Andrew Maness, senior analyst with Pit Rho, spoke and provided a demonstration of how Pit Rho’s analytics technology creates an incredibly reliable predictability for the outcome of each Verizon IndyCar Series race.  He used Rossi’s win at last year’s 500 as an example – a strategy that actually showed how slowing down (to avoid one final pit stop) actually allowed Rossi to win the race.
