10-Year Prediction in auto/motorsports: My prediction is that in 10 years,
I would have been able to work on and remodel a car that
would be more efficient and sustainable for the environment.
What You May Not Know About Me: One thing you may not know about me
is that my first love was softball and that I played it for 14 years.
How did you get so interested in the auto/motorsports industry?
I was first introduced to the auto/motorsports industry when I watched the movie “The Fast and Furious.” I loved the different cars and their ability to be used in such high-speed races and chases. After that, I was fascinated by the mechanics of cars and the process in which they’re built.
What automotive aspect interests you the most?
The manufacturing and developmental processes in improving automobiles are most interesting. I appreciate the many efforts that car manufacturers have made to make electric and autonomous vehicles and would love to learn more about how that transition is made possible.
How do you approach the challenges of being a minority engineering student in what has been traditionally a non-minority career path?
I approach the challenges of being a minority engineering student as motivation to excel and make my mark in the engineering world. I understand that I will be put in uncomfortable positions and that I must overcome them to achieve my dreams. I hope to be able to open doors and create more opportunities for young minority students to be interested in STEAM fields.
What would you like your first job/career opportunity to be?
I would like my first job/career to be in the automotive industry. I have always been interested in the manufacturing and developing of automobiles to be more efficient. After I graduate, I would love an opportunity to work in this industry and help reinvent how cars look and their sustainability.
Where do you see yourself 10 years from now?
Ten years from now I see myself excelling with my master's in mechanical engineering degree working on the improvement of automotives. I hope to have improved the manufacturing of cars and how environmentally sustainable they have become. In the future I see myself giving back to my community and helping young minority students get interested in STEAM fields.
